These past two weeks have been extremely busy for me. I went from coaching the team in Lisbon, Portugal at the 2018 IBJJF European championships, to coaching the team in Brazil at ACB. In taking the time to reflect here are some of my thoughts.
When I look at Andy, Laith and Nicole I see my past. I am reminded of how I was when I first came to America, hungry and driven. It’s amazing to see how far our team has come, because of the work in our past, future world champions relocate their lives to San Jose and intrust in me their careers. It truly is a blessing.
When I look at Rudson and Mikey, the youngest people on the ACB roster, I see the present. One amazing black belt world champion and a future black belt world champion. These two are just beginning!
When I look at Yuri I see the future. As a competitor he accomplished just about everything and although he still wants to compete for a few more years his greatest strides as a person has been his growth as a teacher and a leader. I know that the future of CTA will be good for years to come with Yuri by my side.
2018 is just beginning, lets go team!!!
