Last weekend was the 2023 IBJJF American Nationals in Las Vegas! American National is a gi and no-gi tournament and unofficially kicks off the no-gi season.
From HQ, Phoebe Lowell, Aline Monteiro, Dean Sherrell, Jazy, Richard & Abagail Vega, Ed Hohl, Rafael Duarte, Vitor Paschoal, Gabriel Marangoni, and Thamara Ferreira made the trip down to compete.
At the end of the day, every one of the lower belts made the podium, with Jazzy, Richard, and Dino taking gold in their respective divisions! Vitor, Gabriel, and Thamara did amazingly at the black belt level, and all were crowned champions!
From the association, James Jones, Ryan Martens Eichner-Opseth, Chelsea Duggan, Nate Rauschaut, Zach Fadika, Josh Wheeler, and Ben Martinez all did well making the podium. Zach and Josh did extra work winning their division and making the podium in the open divisions.
Great start to the No Gi season and the conclusion of the gi season, and I can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings!
