The North American Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation has been coming to Arizona for the past 4 years hosting their annual Grand Canyon State Open. A gi and nogi tournament condensed into one long and full day of BJJ competition. With teams from California, Nevada, New Mexico and locally in Arizona, the competition was heated and intense!
After a long and arduous day for both coaches and competitors, the CTA team in Arizona makes it to the podium yet again! Winning 3 of the last 4 tournaments and coming in 2nd 2 years ago, the team takes second among the multiple teams bringing members from out of state to compete with the local talent. With our team consisting of members from our three affiliates, we came up only 20 points shy from first. 20 points behind a team that brought multiple members from all over Arizona and from neighboring states. Not bad for a local team competing against some of the biggest teams in the state and in the world!
Congratulations to all team members that came out and put on an amazing display of Jiu-Jitsu! It was an incredible day of technique, drive, determination, and heart! Keep up the great work! We’re all so very proud of you guys!
